Sharla Zalmanowitz is a Registered Psychologist with over fifteen years of experience providing evidence-based psychological care. She completed her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology at the University of Western Ontario in 2011.
Sharla specializes in the psychological aspects of injury, chronic pain, rehabilitation, and recovery. She works collaboratively with patients and their healthcare team to address the factors that can influence recovery, including pain, sleep, stress, trauma, mood, fear of movement, and adjustment to changes in health or function.
Drawing on evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), mindfulness, and nervous system regulation strategies, Sharla tailors treatment to each person’s goals. Her focus is on helping patients build confidence, reduce the impact of pain and injury, and return to meaningful activities.
Outside the clinic, Sharla enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, two young sons, and the family dog.
Zoya graduated with honours from the Orthopaedic Massage Program at CITCM in 2022. She completed her internship at a specialized Orthopaedic Massage clinic, where she treated a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and supported patients through post-surgical rehabilitation. Zoya continues to advance her clinical skills through ongoing education and hands-on experience.
Her treatment approach emphasizes thorough assessment to accurately identify injured structures, contributing factors, and postural dysfunctions. This allows her to develop individualized treatment plans focused on meaningful and lasting results. Zoya has had particular success in treating shoulder injuries, low back pain, whiplash, and TMJ dysfunction, among other conditions.
Outside of the clinic, Zoya enjoys exploring nature through walking and hiking, and spending quality time with her feline companion.
