Dr. Berdusco completed her Orthopaedic Surgical Residency in 2013 at the University of Calgary after obtaining her medical degree from McMaster University (Hamilton, ON). From there she gained expertise in shoulder surgery by pursuing two years of fellowship training at the University of Ottawa (Shoulder and Upper Extremity) and the University of Manitoba (Sports Surgery and Upper Extremity Reconstruction). During her fellowship years she also achieved her Master of Science in Healthcare Quality from Queen’s University (2015). She was a valued orthopaedic surgeon in her academic and leadership positions at the Pan Am Clinic in Winnipeg and at the Ottawa Hospital before coming back to Calgary in 2023 to be closer to family.
Dr. Berdusco’s elective practice focuses on shoulder reconstruction and upper extremity surgeries. She is a skilled arthroscopic surgeon (rotator cuff pathology, stabilizations, AC joint, labral tears, bicep tendon, sports injuries, etc.) and experienced in shoulder arthroplasty/replacement procedures (for arthritis, fractures and deformities). Dr. Berdusco also enjoys fracture management as she provides comprehensive care of traumatic bone and joint injuries when you or a family member unexpectedly break your wrist, knee, ankle or hip!
Dr. Berdusco primarily operates at the Peter Lougheed Centre in Calgary where she is the orthopaedic quality improvement team lead. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University Calgary, where she is an excellent mentor and preceptor for surgical trainees and medical students. Dr. Berdusco is a member of the Alberta Medical Association, the Canadian Shoulder and Elbow Society, the Arthroscopy Association of Canada, the Canadian Orthopaedic Association, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. She is passionate about patient-centered care and quality improvement research projects related to orthopaedic peri-operative management and shoulder surgery.
Dr. Berdusco enjoys working in the team atmosphere in the Access Orthopaedics clinic as well as in the operating room to provide the best care possible for her patients. Outside of the hospital she enjoys reading, hiking and fitness pursuits. She is a dedicated Lego builder, spin-cyclist and Swift enthusiast. Dr. Berdusco is incredibly happy that her family can now call Calgary and the surrounding mountains their home.
