Dr. Stephen Hung completed his Bachelor of Science through the honours stream at the Faculty of Kinesiology majoring in biomechanics at the University of Calgary. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary in 2015, followed by his postgraduate medical education residency training in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta in 2020. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
He pursued additional training in many areas which include obtaining his diplomate (EMG) with the Canadian Society of Clinical Neurophysiologists (CSCN), Sport and Exercise Medicine diploma with the Canadian Academy of Sport and Exercise Medicine (CASEM), additional advanced training in both fluoroscopic and ultrasound guided musculoskeletal procedures and is a Certified Independent Medical Examiner through the American Board of Independent Medical Examiners (ABIME).
His primary clinical interests include the complete management of musculoskeletal medicine including interventional procedures under fluoroscopic and ultrasound guidance, sports medicine (including e-sports), electromyography (EMG) and cancer rehabilitation. He believes strongly in interdisciplinary care working alongside allied health in multiple settings providing physiatric care. He was previously a team physician for NAIT Ooks Athletics.
He has an appointment of clinical lecturer for the Division of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Alberta and has an active ongoing interest in medical education.
